By acute illness, traffic accidents or fire you can always call the alarm centre by dialling or pressing the alarm number 112 from any phone box - without coin insertion. |
We cannot guarantee that no cats/ dogs or the like have ever been in the holiday home, in which pets are not allowed, as the owner of the house can have a dog or cat of his own. Especially during the early and the late season, the holiday home may have been vacant for a long period, and therefore, the climate in the house can be more humid and stuffy than you are used to at home, but this will disappear after about a day of heating /airing. |
The key is handed out from the office or from a key deposit place and can be collected from 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. the owner of the holiday home has access to the house in order to carry out minor repairs. Moreover, the holiday home must be prepared for the next tenancy during this time. If you expect to arrive very late or later than the day stated on your tenancy agreement, please inform us of this no later than the day before your arrival, as we have to arrange an alternative handing over of the key as well as the adjustment of the preheating (from November to May). Together with the tenancy agreement a road map is forwarded to you. The key deposit place as well as the location of the holiday home is indicated on this road map. |
The bathing rules are stated on posters in holiday homes with swimming pool and/ or whirlpool, and for health reasons these rules must be followed. Otherwise, Feriehuse Hornbæk cannot be held responsible. If you rent such a holiday home, you will receive information of the bathing rules when you pick up the key. |
Bathrooms in Danish holiday homes can be rather small. Usually, the bathrooms contain a hand shower, often with a holder on the wall. A shower curtain is not always available, and the drain is often just a grating in the floor. Only rarely does the cabinet shower have an edge. The showers and cabinet showers are usually rather small. Cupboards, shelves and pegs for towels are not to be taken for granted in the extend you are used to at home. |
The designation "beach" does not necessarily mean that the beach is suitable for bathing. The distance to the beach is stated in direct line to the nearest shoreline. The appearance of the beaches varies according to the weather and the time of year. At some places the coasts are steep (most are provided with stairs during the summer). Marked paths and roads should be used out of consideration for nature. If you wish to receive exact information about the beach, this can be obtained by Feriehuse Hornbæk, by VisitDenmark (www.visitdenmark.dk) or by the local tourist office. The designation "child-friendly" does not necessarily mean that the beach is a sandy beach. Even though it is a "sandy beach", stones may occur on the beach. Motoring is allowed on some beaches. |
A bed-loft normally has a height of between 70 and 100 cm, and therefore not possible to stand up in the bed-loft. Usually there is no fencing, and there is access to the bed-loft from a steep staircase/ ladder. A bed-loft is not suitable for small children and old or walking-impaired persons. The sleeping places in the bed-loft often consist of foam rubber mattresses. |
Bedrooms in the holiday home can be small. The beds can f.x. be placed up against the wall in a way in which the bed is only accessible from one side. Bedsides, tables and lamps etc. are not compulsory in all bedrooms. We cannot guarantee that there is room for a cot in the bedroom. |
The beds in the holiday homes vary in size. The length can be from 1.8 m to 2 m. The double beds, which often only consist of one mattress, vary in the width from 1.2 m to 1.8 m, and the single beds are from 70 cm to 90 cm wide. The beds can be equipped with foam rubber mattresses. The above-mentioned measures are only valid for beds and do not include sofa beds, as their measures do not necessarily meet with the stated requirements. You cannot always expect to find a bed staff or a ladder by the bunk beds. |
By some of our holiday homes bicycles are available. They can be used free of charge, but Feriehuse Hornbæk accepts no responsibility for the standard and defects, if any. |
If a boat is available by the holiday home, it is the responsibility of the tenant to bring/ rent/get hold of life jackets in accordance with Danish rules. Lacking use of the life jacket can cause a fine. In a few cases the holiday home contains life jackets. In these cases we advice you to check carefully if the jacket fits exactly - and to check that the body weight doesn't exceed the buoyancy of the life jacket. You are not allowed to sail out more than 1.500 metres from the shore. Remember to carry bailer, torch, mobile phone, compass and appropriate clothing along with you. |
Remember to bring: Bed linen (large sheets instead of stretch sheets as the length, width and thickness of the mattresses vary) towels, dish towels, dishcloths, cleaning materials, toilet paper etc., iron as well as bed linen for the cot (pillow, duvet and draw sheet), if necessary. |
Feriehuse Hornbæk is not responsible for changes of opening hours or potential closings of shops, restaurants, surf schools, tennis courts and the like. |
Any complaint must be stated to Feriehuse Hornbæk at once (tel. no. and address are stated on the tenancy agreement and in the information folder in the holiday home). If the office is closed, you can apply to SOL OG STRAND's main office, Ilsigvej 21, Hune, DK-9492 Blokhus, tel. +45 99 44 44 10, fax +45 99 44 44 45. Complaints of the cleaning must be communicated to Feriehuse Hornbæk immediately on the day of arrival. Further complaints have to be stated as well in order to arrange remedy. Tenants are, cf Danish legislation, liable to allow Feriehuse Hornbæk a fair respite to remedy complaints from the tenant. Any compensation is calculated from the time when Feriehuse Hornbæk receives the complaint. If the tenants leave the holiday home without informing Feriehuse Hornbæk verbally about this and without allowing Feriehuse Hornbæk a fair respite to correct defects, if any, Feriehuse Hornbæk cannot be imposed with refund obligations as the tenants have made it impossible for Feriehuse Hornbæk to remedy the defect/ damage. |
The consumption of electricity, telephone, oil and gas is not included in the rent price. The electricity-meter is often placed outside the holiday home. Check upon arrival that the number on the consumption envelope in the house correspond with the number on the electricity-meter. Before departure, the consumption is made up by reading the meters, and then settled with Feriehuse Hornbæk. The price per kWh and meter step by use of f.x. telephone is DKK 2.15 (app. EUR 0,28) and 2.25 (app. EUR 0,30) respectively. The price for gas, oil etc. may vary. You will find further information about this in your tenancy agreement as well as in the holiday home. However, you are also welcome to contact us. Please note that a difference between the actual meter number and the number, noted on the envelope, can occur. This is due to the preheating of the house (from November to May), as a heating will be commenced before the occupation. As a tenant you only pay for the heating - the service work is included in the rent price. This also applies all year round to houses with swimming pool and whirlpool. Houses with swimming pool will typically use more electricity in connection with the safety check of the water quality. All houses with the type of whirlpool, which has its water renewed every Saturday, will in this connection use electricity for the heating of the water. It is common to both types of checks that the service work is free, while you as a tenant pay for the heating. NB! Most electricity-meters in Denmark have no comma. All numbers are whole kilowatt-hours - also the last number, which may be marked with a red colour. Besides, we refer to the instructions on the consumption envelope. In holiday homes with swimming pool and/ or whirlpool the consumption of electricity is considerably higher than in holiday homes without this equipment. The specific consumption is of course dependant on the number of persons, the size of the house, the equipment and the time of year. In most cases the water consumption is included in the rent price. However, in a few cases the water consumption must be settled separately by means of an envelope for this purpose. |
A symbol for a child by the house presentation indicates that the holiday home contains a cot. Usually, the cot is a so-called weekend bed; about 60 cm wide and 110 cm long. You have to bring your own pillow, duvet and bed linen. The beds are suitable for children under 4 years of age. It cannot be guaranteed that there is room for the cot in the bedrooms of the holiday home. |
The illustrated cupboards may in some cases be small and narrow cupboards, f.x. with a curtain or completely open. You may find private items, which belong to the house owner, in the cupboards or drawers. You have to expect a limited cupboard space, and there may not be room for all of your garments. Hangers are not always available. |
You can seek information with the customs authorities in your native country in order to learn more about which goods and in which volume you can import them into Denmark. |
Any damage in the holiday home must be reported to Feriehuse Hornbæk or the main office immediately. Please read the paragraphs 2 and 7 in the rent conditions and the section "Complaints". |
Feriehuse Hornbæk is entitled to denounce the tenancy without refund if you behave inconsistent with Danish law as well as common good order. |
The The holiday home must be departed no later than 10 a. m. and the key are to be dropped off/ placed at the same place as you collected it. At departure, the holiday home must be tidied up and cleaned. Windows and doors are to be closed/ locked. All furniture and other equipment must be placed at its original place and in the same condition as on your arrival. Read the electricity-meter as well as the telephone counter and place the accounted amount in the consumption envelope. If you wish to leave the holiday home before the pre-arranged time of departure, you are, for insurable causes, under an obligation to inform Feriehuse Hornbæk about this. During the winter period, from November to May, it is important never to switch off the electricity - in order to avoid frost injuries. By departure, please regulate the radiators down to 5 degrees C as well as the floor heating to a minimum temperature. |
The distances stated in the presentation are guiding and estimated in direct line, for which reason the walk or the drive can be considerable longer. A short distance to the beach does not always mean that you can walk directly down to the beach, f.x. because of steep shores or other private property. Or perhaps a road separates the holiday home and the beach. The marked paths and roads are to be used as far as possible out of consideration for nature. You can study the forwarded road map or contact Feriehuse Hornbæk. Please note that the distance to the next grocer's shop can vary, as some of the shops are only open during the high season. |
Do not throw sanitary towels, wads, cotton wool, napkins or the like in the toilet as it can easily course a blocking. Temporary problems with the drain from the toilet, shower etc. may also arise in consequence of heavy rain. However, it usually adjusts itself after 1-2 days. Never pour food scraps, deep fat or dripping in the drains or in the toilet! |
All of our holiday homes are connected up with electricity (220 V), which provides heating of water, radiators, floors, swimming pools etc. Usually, spare fuses are available in the house. If this is not the case, please buy some yourself, and subsequently Feriehuse Hornbæk will refund the amount on presentation of a receipt. |
As a basis the final cleaning is carried out by the tenant and checked by Feriehuse Hornbæk after the departure. If you wish to let Feriehuse Hornbæk handle the final cleaning, you can order it until 3 days before departure from the holiday home. As tenants, you are responsible for the following points, which are not included in our final cleaning: • dish washing • general tidying-up - inside and outside • cleaning of grill and garden furniture Holiday homes with swimming pool and/ or whirlpool require an extensive final cleaning, and therefore we recommend our tenants to leave the final cleaning of these houses to us against payment. Please click here for prices. If you choose to carry out the final cleaning yourselves, remember to bring cleaning materials. |
If it is not specifically stated in the house description, firewood for the fireplace/ woodburning stove is not included in the rent price. Firewood can be purchased more places by the roadside or at the grocer's shop. Firewood by the holiday home is private property of the owner and may not be used. In some cases it can be used against payment, and if that is the case, it will appear from a notice in the holiday home. You pay directly to the owner and the money for the firewood is left in the house. By extreme winds or stormy weather it may not be possible to use the woodburning stove, as the smoke is pressed back into the chimney. You are only allowed to use newspapers (for the lighting) as well as dry and chemically untreated wood. Superheating of the stove can cause fire risk. |
The heating of the floor often lasts between 24 and 48 hours. The thermostat (on/ off button) is usually located right above the skirting on the outside or inside of the floor heated room. Please note that floor heating most frequently means that the bathroom has floor heating. If the house contains more than one bathroom, it does not necessarily mean that all bathrooms have floor heating.
Should you, through an oversight, leave personal possessions in the holiday home, Feriehuse Hornbæk reforward the forgotten items on to your home address. The forwarding will take place against on prepayment. Forgotten possessions are kept locally for a month. Feriehuse Hornbæk is not responsible for forgotten possessions, which subsequently cannot be found. |
Usually garden furniture consists of a table as well as chairs/ benches. Cushions are not always available for the garden furniture (chairs, lounge beds and lounges). It is not allowed to use the duvets, pillows, cushions or mattresses of the holiday home on the beach, the terrace or the lawn. The number of garden chairs does not always correspond to the number of persons stated in the presentation. A parasol is not available in all holiday homes. |
Some of the holiday homes have a garden grill. You can use the grill as much as you like, but Feriehuse Hornbæk assumes no responsibility for the standard and the cleanliness of the grill. Do not place a disposable grill directly on a wooden foundation as it leaves marks. |
The number of tenants must not exceed the number of persons, stated in the presentation, as the drain system of the holiday home is adjusted for this number of persons. Therefore, it is not allowed to put up tents or to park caravans and recreational vehicles at the site. In the case that more persons than allowed number make use of the house, the additional guests will be asked to leave or alternatively pay for the stay. |
In the period from November until May we will start the preheating before you arrive. In that way the holiday home has reached a temperature of 14-18 degrees C when you arrive. As regards houses with indoor swimming pool, the pool will have a temperature of 24-28 degrees C upon arrival. This will cause a difference between the meter number on the consumption envelope and the actual number at the electricity-meter on arrival. You are to pay for the consumption on the basis of the numbers on the consumption envelope. |
By most of Feriehuse Hornbæk you can rent a cot, a high chair and linen packages (sheet, covers for duvet and pillow, 2 towels and a dish towel). These items will either be delivered to the holiday home on the day of arrival, or you have to pick them up yourselves and bring them back to the office again. Please inquire about this by the booking or at the office. The payment is separated from the tenancy agreement, but can be carried out directly at the office or by use of the envelope for extras in the house. Please order the above items no later than 5 days before arrival. |
Most hot-water tanks hold about 30 l of water (app. 2 showers). |
The descriptions of the privately owned holiday homes are worked out from our best conviction. We make reservations for changes as well as misprints and typing errors. The perception of the furniture is rendered individually and depends on the taste of the individual house owner. The ground plans are illustrated as exact as possible, but they are only intended as a guide and deviations regarding the locations of beds, woodburning stove, toilets etc. may arise. In order to maintain the clarity of the ground plan, terraces, basements, first floors etc. are often not illustrated on the ground plan. |
A holiday home is often not vacated for a longer period, and therefore the indoor climate can feel humid and moist. The fastest and most efficient relief is a thorough airing immediately after arrival. |
Wherever possible Feriehuse Hornbæk makes sure that instructions are available for the special electric installations/devices. In case of doubt you are welcome to contact your Feriehuse Hornbæk sales and service office for guidance. |
If you rent a holiday home with an internet connection, you are to bring along your own computer, unless it is stated otherwise in the tenancy agreement. The computer needs an Ethernet card and software, which supports Windows 98/2000/2003/XP or NT. |
Please read the special folder that you receive when you pick up the key. |
It is stated on the tenancy agreement where the key to the holiday home is placed. Usually there is only one key available, even though the holiday home can accommodate more than one family. The keys for the mail box, the tool shed etc. can often be found in the house (f.x. on the notice board in the kitchen) or together with the main key. |
The kitchen equipment in the holiday home usually consists of the number of glasses, cups, plates and cutlery, corresponding with the number of persons, stated in the presentation. The equipment can be a compounding of different types. The houses often contain less pots and pans than a private household. Please clean the pots and pans as well as the oven very thoroughly after use. These rules are valid even though a final cleaning has been ordered. |
It doesn't always appear from the photo that the holiday homes are often situated very close to each other. Therefore, the conception of 'undisturbed location' can be incorrect. For further information please contact Feriehuse Hornbæk. A holiday home can be described as child-friendly or quietly located even though there is a road near the house. A child-friendly location does not necessarily mean that the home lies close to a sandy beach. |
Military exercises are often carried out in the following areas: Jægerspris, Melby and Sjællands Odde. The training activities are often restricted in the holiday periods and are often advertised in the local papers.
During your vacation, everyday life in Denmark goes on. Therefore, noises from f.x. building sites, restaurants, airplanes, cars, speedboats, military training etc. can occur. Feriehuse Hornbæk cannot be held responsible for these noises. |
You can find the opening hours of Feriehuse Hornbæk here on the site or you can be informed of them at the individual office or at the main office of SOL OG STRAND. The main office can be reached on tel. no. +45 99 44 44 10. |

If the presentation of a holiday home has a symbol indicating a pet, you can bring one pet along with you (f.x. one dog or one cat). In these cases an extra charge of DKK 158 (app. EUR 22) per tenancy is collected. The individual tenant is responsible for scratches as well as stains on floors, furniture etc. We ask for your understanding why the holiday home MUST be cleaned for hairs from the dog or cat before departure - even though a final cleaning has been ordered. The dog/cat must never be left alone in the holiday home. Usually you can bring the dog along to the beach. According to Danish rules the dog has to be kept on a leash. On the site you must also have your dog on a leash out of consideration for the neighbours. When you travel between countries of the EU and bring your cat, dog or ferret, you have to carry with you a passport, documenting that the animal has been inoculated against rabies. Furthermore, the animals must be identifiable by means of a chip or a tattooing. In order to obtain the passport, the pet has to be inoculated no later than 3 weeks before departure. Please pay attention to the rules regarding the departure from and return to Denmark and your home country when you are travelling with a dog or a cat. |
Together with the holiday home presentation you will see a matching picture. If the holiday home is relatively new or if it is still under construction (note the building year), a model photo or drawing is used. Therefore, we ask you to pay extra attention to the text and the symbols of the presentation when you rent a holiday home with a model photo or drawing. If a model photo or drawing is used, it will appear from the photo in the shape of an indication in the lower left corner. It may occur that the holiday home has been painted, that the house owner has renewed parts of the interior or in other ways changed the house in such a way that it differs from the photo of the presentation. |
The rent price per week is stated together with the description of the holiday home and presented with a colour. The colour refers to the period of your holiday and is defined under the calendar bottom on the page "Search holiday home". A weekly price is paid for every week you spend in the holiday home. Does the holiday f.x. begin in a week, marked with a red colour, and continues into a week, marked with a green colour, you pay one red-week-price and one green-week-price. In case a pet is brought along, an extra charge of DKK 158 per tenancy is collected. The total price excl. various kinds of consumption (electricity, oil, gas, telephone as well as rent of linen, cot and high chair) is stated on the tenancy agreement. Feriehuse Hornbæk makes a reservation for misprints. |
All houses are equipped with a radio, but it can be an older model or a transistor. You cannot expect that the TV can receive coded channels, and in some areas it is not possible to receive more than one Danish channel. In addition to this, the number of German TV channels, which can be received through a satellite dish, depends on the receiver of the holiday home. Throughout the season 2006 an exchange of analog to digital channels will take place. Therefore, we cannot inform you of the available channels for the present. However, most German channels are available through a digital receiver. A remote control is not always available. If the holiday home is equipped with a satellite dish, you are not allowed to change the adjustment of the satellite dish and the receiver. If this prohibition is violated, we will have to order a radio/ TV electrician for the readjustment - on the account of the tenant. By heavy rain or stormy weather the reception via antenna or satellite dish can be substantially reduced. Feriehuse Hornbæk cannot guarantee for the reception of specific satellite programmes. |
There is no collection of rubbish by the holiday homes on Saturday, which is the usual day of arrival. Therefore, you may find that the rubbish has not been collected. Feriehuse Hornbæk can usually inform you of the day of the next rubbish collection. Remember that only original rubbish bags will be collected. The bag must only be filled to the broken line - or it will not be picked up. If you need an extra rubbish bag, please contact Feriehuse Hornbæk, the next grocer's shop or the tourist agency. |
Saunas in holiday homes are small (usually for 2 persons). Coloured towels can come off on the wooden benches and may therefore not be brought into the sauna. |
The size (m²) of the holiday home is measured by the outer walls (excl. terrace). Usually the type of site is stated in the description of the house. In most cases the holiday home is situated on a natural site or a dune site, which means that the grass will not be cut. If the holiday home is of a recent date, the site/garden is often not completely laid out, and this can be inconsistent with the type of site, stated in the description. Only rarely does the site have a boundary line (fence, hedge or the like). The size of the site appears from the symbols, but this is not always tantamount to the fact that you can walk all over the site, as it can be planted with trees, bushes etc. Equally, the site can be a part of a dune area, which cannot be marked. |
If the holiday home contains a solarium, it is often a single solarium, which is usually mounted over one of the beds or on the bed-loft. Please notice that the tubes of the solariums in the holiday homes are weaker than the tubes of the solariums in the tanning centres, and therefore you cannot expect the same tanning effect. Should the tubes fail to shine, try to turn them a centimetre round after which they will usually function again. Please bring your own safety spectacles. |
Many holiday homes are equipped with f.x. washing machine, tumbler, dishwasher, microwave oven etc. Deficiencies, if any, cannot always be remedied during the weekend, but Feriehuse Hornbæk will naturally do everything possible to repair the equipment as soon as possible. |
If the holiday house contains a telephone, it can in a few cases be a telephone only for incoming calls. Check the description of the holiday house very thoroughly. However, it is always possible to call the alarm center "112".
Most of the phones are equipped with a counter which is placed on the wall near the phone (in some cases in the tool shed or the like). Please note that the ringing tone can be adjusted/ disconnected on many phones.
Check the telephone counter on arrival in order to prevent misunderstandings. A counter step costs DKK 2.25 (app. EUR 0,30). |
Most terraces are made out of wood, and only rarely do they have a fencing. The terraces are often raised because of the broken ground. The space between the terrace boards can be up to 3 cm. By stone terraces irregularities can occur. |
By unforeseen incidents like e.g. sale or compulsory sale of the rented holiday house, Feriehuse Hornbæk can be forced to give notice to terminate the entered rental agreement, as we do not have any influence on these kinds of incidents. However, we will always do our utmost to find an alternative solution.
By theft and the like it can occur that some equipment is missing from the holiday house, compared to the presentation. In that case we will naturally provide a compensation as soon as possible. |
The presentation of the house is valid from January 9 2005 until January 1 2006. However, the house can still be booked after this time, but in that case we have to make reservations against changes of equipment, prices and our right of disposal of the holiday house for the next season. Therefore, check the information on your rental confirmation document very closely. |
Feriehuse Hornbæk is not responsible for and does not accept any compensation claims in connection with any occurrence of insects or vermin in the holiday house, as they are a part of the Danish nature (e.g. ants, earwigs, flies, woodlice, mice etc.).
In acute and extreme cases we ask you to contact the local sales and service office, and we will try to remedy the problem. |
In Denmark there is a very strong focus on environmentally correct behaviour. These conditions come to expression through e.g. high duties on electricity and water consumption. Therefore, as tenants, you will have to contribute through your consumption of electricity and oil in the holiday houses.
In most cases the water consumption is included in the rent price. However, in some houses the water consumption is settled separately. |
